Call BEFORE YOU DIG: You must contact TENNESSEE ONE-CALL CENTER at (800) 351-1111 or 811 three working days prior to digging around gas lines in order for us to properly locate District owned natural gas lines. Locating District natural gas lines is a free service.
Notice: Natural Gas is odorless, colorless and non-toxic. HCUD adds an odorant for your protection. If you smell gas, evacuate the area immediately. Do not turn electrical switches or other spark producers on or off. Call HCUD at (931) 296-3204 from a neighbor’s phone and do not reenter the area where you detected the natural gas smell.
Theft of Service is illegal; this includes but is not limited to broken locks on meter sets. Customer will be subject to a $200.00 violation payment as well as service call charges, labor and replacement parts as detailed by the utility.
NOTICE OBTAINING UTILITY SERVICE BY FRAUD IS UNLAWFUL
It is Unlawful to obtain or attempt to obtain by use of any fraudulent scheme, device, means or method, electric, sanitary sewer, water, or gas service, with intent to avoid payment of the lawful price, charge or toll therefore, or for any person to cause another to avoid such payment for such service, or for any person to assist another in avoiding payment for electric, sanitary sewer, water, or gas service, either through the making of multiple applications for service at one (1) address, or otherwise. TCA 65-35-102 (3)
Also, any person violating the provisions of TCA 65-35-102 is liable civilly for damages resulting from such violation, including actual, compensatory, incidental and punitive damages. The damages shall be three (3) times the utility’s estimated loss of revenue, plus reasonable attorney’s fees and costs associated with such loss.
